New Favorite Inspirational Quote

I have a new favorite quote.
Nora Roberts was interviewed by Eileen Putnam for the monthly feature "Writers on Writing" in the August 2006 issue of the 'Romance Writers Report' (the magazine for the national Romance Writers Group)
She's speaking about disciplining yourself to write, not waiting for inspiration or your muse to show up.
"Go track down that fickle slut, drag her back, chain her to your keyboard and get to work."

I just love that quote, thanks for sharing it - my attitude about creativity is that it just happens so much slower, if you aren't actually DOing something to jump start it. Anything helps, not just the exact thing you are trying to get to flow. If you can't get writing to work, try music, or art, beading, or ??? and first thing you know, you circle back to whatever you were stuck on.

Ysabeau, I totally agree with you. I call it artistic crop rotation. It's just like they do on the farms to keep the soil from being depleted of certain minerals. Every endeavor has its season. If I try to force it at the wrong time, it doesn't grow like it would have otherwise.
